Twenty head a year. That’s it.

Lone Pine Farm sits in the Somerset Region, a forty-minute drive from Brisbane. Our cattle graze freely on native pastures, drink the clean water of the Somerset catchment, and are raised slowly and quietly the way Wagyu are meant to be.

We run a small herd on purpose. Twenty head a year means we know each animal, we choose when each one is ready, and we work with a single local processor we trust. Nothing is rushed.

“Wagyu raised carefully, processed locally, and sold honestly — to people who care about where their food comes from.”

When you buy a half beast from us, you're buying from the people who raised it. There's no middleman, no supermarket, no marketing department. Just the cattle, the paddock, and the family that runs the farm.

WAGYU FOR EVERYDAY COOKING

A different kind of Wagyu experience.

Most of the Wagyu people are familiar with — the kind you see on restaurant menus or in specialty butcher windows — is grain-finished for high marbling. It's beautiful product, and at its best it's a remarkable thing to eat. It's also intensely rich, which is why it tends to be reserved for special occasions.

Grass-fed Pure bred Wagyu is a different experience. The genetics still bring the tenderness, the depth, and the distinctive umami of real Wagyu. The grass-fed approach produces meat that's leaner and cleaner-tasting — closer to what your grandparents would have called good beef. The kind of thing you can put on the table on a Tuesday.

01

Clean, savoury flavour

Grass-fed beef has a brighter, more savoury profile that lets the underlying Wagyu genetics show through.

03

Better fat profile

Grass-fed beef is naturally higher in omega-3 fatty acids, CLA, and vitamin E. The science is well-established.

02

Naturally leaner

Less intramuscular fat than grain-finished Wagyu. Suits a quick pan-sear, a Sunday roast, or a midweek mince.

04

Designed for everyday cooking

A half beast feeds a family of four for six months. The grass-fed profile makes that genuinely enjoyable, not just feasible.

The Maths

$2,250 sounds like a lot. Until you do the maths.

A half beast lasts a family of four around six months. Because grass-fed Wagyu suits everyday cooking, you'll genuinely eat it weekly rather than saving it for special occasions. Broken down per meal, it becomes one of the better-value premium proteins you can buy.

FROM OUR CUSTOMERS

What our customers tell us.

We were planning on firing up the smoker for sunday lunch, we were given some Lone Pine Wagyu ribs to cook for a mate.

So these big Wagyu ribs, well wrapped, got a dose of Kosher salt and 16 mesh black pepper.

3 hours of ironbark smoke, just under 2 hours wrapped with red wine and butter. 1 hour rest.

Full of flavour, came off the bone nicely.Would recommend.

Questions, answered.

Buying a half beast is a considered purchase. Here are the questions we get asked most often. If we missed one have a look at our more detailed FAQ page. If yours isn’t here, email us — we read everything.

What freezer space do I need?

A half beast takes up roughly 200 litres of freezer space — about the size of a standard chest freezer or a large upright freezer drawer. We strongly recommend confirming your freezer space before ordering. If you’re tight on room, we will see if we can assist

What cuts come in a half beast?

You receive a balanced mix of premium cuts (eye fillet, scotch fillet, rump, rump cap), everyday cuts (sirloin, roasts, oyster blade), slow-cook cuts (brisket, shin, cheek), plus mince, sausages, and bones. Total weight is around 100kg. Here's the cut list

How long will the meat last in the freezer?

We sell refrigerated and vacuum sealed. We recommend you then store at -18°C or below, the meat will easily last 12 months. Most families finish theirs in 5–7 months because — let’s be honest — once you start eating it, it disappears.

Why is the marbling lower than the Wagyu I've had in restaurants?

Because ours is grass-fed, not grain-finished. Restaurant Wagyu is typically grain-fed for 250–300+ days, which produces extreme marbling (MB7–9) and a very rich, fatty steak. Grass-fed pure bred Wagyu has lower visible marbling but a cleaner, more savoury flavour, and is far better suited to everyday cooking.  Both have their place; ours is the everyday one.

Can I split a half beast with someone?

Yes. Many of our customers split a half beast between two households (so a quarter each). We can pre-divide the order for you if you let us know at the time of purchase. Just one delivery address per order, though — you and your friend sort out the handover.

When do I need to order by?

We process cattle on a rolling schedule from July to December. Order at least 4–6 weeks before you want delivery. Christmas orders close in early November — once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Pick up or Delivery?

Once you have made your order and selected your preferred delivery month (in the order form) we will contact you with a date and time that you can pick up your order direct from the processor in Fernvale. Don't worry if you can't make the day/time we are flexible. Need delivery? Email us, we come into Brisbane regularly we might be able to work something out.

Is it really pure bred Wagyu?

Yes. We can show you the genetics on request. "Pure Bred" means 100% Wagyu genetics with verified pedigree, not the more common Wagyu × Angus crossbreed sold as "Wagyu" in most supermarkets.
